Your HR Countdown Checklist:

In addition to the 2022 EEO1 deadline on 12/5/2023, HR priorities for December focus on starting the new year with the right information:

  • Deadline 12/5/2023: The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection opened on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. The deadline for submitting and certifying 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 report(s) is Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The EEO-1 Component 1 report is a mandatory annual data collection that requires all private sector employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria. To meet this deadline, the EEOC strongly encourages eligible filers to begin the filing process as soon as possible. Filers should visit the dedicated EEO-1 Component 1 website to access the EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System (OFS), to find supplementary resource materials, and to find the latest updates.
  • New Form W-4or Form W-4(SP): Encourage employees to fill out a news form for the new year if they have experienced any personal or financial changes.
  • Verify personal information: Remind employees to verify, and if needed, update their personal data (address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, beneficiaries, etc.) prior to the end of the year.
  • Conduct Annual Compliance Audit: The last month of the year is a perfect time to conduct an audit of the company’s compliance.
  • Review Company Policies: The end of the calendar year is an excellent time to review current policies in place and update the employee handbook.
  • Schedule employee safety training for Jan. 2024.
  • Update Workplace Posters: Annually, employers should replace the required workplace posters with updated posters. These include FLSA compliance, OSHA compliance, FMLA compliance, EEO, USERRA, and any other state or industry/business specific.
  • Distribute the 2024 Company Calendar: This is the time to update the company holiday and PTO calendar and note any special internal dates and distribute to all employees before the end of the year.
