Several members of the HumCap team joined Entrepreneurs for North Texas on September 11th for their annual Freedom Day project at the William H. Atwell Middle School. Over 500 members of various local companies participated by joining together to paint the hallways, clean and repair the classrooms and generally restore the school.
While the volunteers renovated the entire middle school, the students spent the day on a field trip to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Chaperoned by volunteers, they spent the day exploring and learning about all the wonderful exhibits currently on display. After all the work was completed, students, teachers and administrators were allowed back into the building to see all the finished remodeling.
The day of service was created to honor all the lives lost and changed as a result of the terrorist attack in 2001. EFNT hopes to help transform the tragedy into triumph by marking the solemn day with service rather than grief. By partnering with the City of Dallas’ GrowSouth Initiative, EFNT and all the volunteers involved were able to make a positive impact on a local Dallas school and their students and faculty.
